I’m Running for Proyecto Juan Diego!

Some of you know that I am now a member of the Daughters of Charity (A Catholic Community of Sisters) our charism or purpose is the service of Christ in persons who are poor. I learned of the great work of Project Juan Diego over 10 years ago from one of the Sisters who is a friend who ministered there.

To raise funds for this program I am happy to participate in the Nuns on the run fundraiser run to support an organization that does so much for community in Brownsville, Texas.

You can help me in supporting Projecto Juan Diego!

I will be running 10 miles for Projecto Juan Diego! I am inviting family and friends to sponsor me by make donations to help me reach my goal of $1,000.00.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT—we can help improve the health and wellness trajectory for many low-income families in the Rio Grande Valley.

Thanks for considering being part of this important fundraiser!

WHO IS PROYECTO JUAN DIEGO?

Proyecto Juan Diego (PJD) is a local nonprofit organization that looks to EMPOWER low-income families in South Texas. PJD offers support, guidance, education, and care in the areas of Health, Family, Education, Immigration, Civic Engagement, and Outreach and provides an educational setting and family friendly environment for children, adults and the elderly.

WHAT IS SISTERS ON THE RUN?

Sisters on the Run is a fundraiser that started as “The Running Nun” by Daughter of Charity, Sister Liz Sjoberg in 2020 by running the McAllen Marathon. Her goal was to raise funds and increase brand awareness for Proyecto Juan Diego. This generated quite the buzz at the race—among her friends and family—and throughout our social media.

Every year since, Proyecto Juan Diego hosts this great fundraiser that keeps on delivering amazing results. In the 2021 Sisters on the Run fundraiser, Sister Liz ran her second full-marathon here in Brownsville joined by another Daughter of Charity—Sister Sharon Horace.

Hence the name, “Sisters on the Run”.

This year, Proyecto Juan Diego is kicking off the 2022 Sisters on the Run fundraiser with a team of local runners as well as Sisters and friends from all over the US.

Donate to Sister Mary Shea’s fundraiser today and help make this year's Sisters on the Run fundraising campaign a SUCCESS!
